Who We Are: Bayside, the Queens Band Behind the Music
We've been part of the punk and emo world for more than twenty-five years. If you are new to us, or just want the story straight, here is where it all started.
Where are we from?
Bayside formed in Queens, New York City, in 2000, started by singer and guitarist Anthony Raneri. We're still a New York band at heart: our 25th anniversary tour in 2025 ended with a hometown show in Huntington, New York.
Where does the name come from?
On the way to a showcase on Long Island, we needed a name to write on the demo CD we planned to hand over. We drove past the Bayside train station, wrote "Bayside" on the CD, and the name stuck.
What kind of music do we play?
Our songs mix punk rock, pop-punk and emo, with heartfelt, often dark lyrics and big sing-along choruses.
Who is in the band?
- Anthony Raneri: lead vocals and rhythm guitar
- Jack O'Shea: lead guitar and backing vocals
- Nick Ghanbarian: bass and backing vocals
- Chris Guglielmo: drums, since 2006
Where should I start?
Nine studio albums, from Sirens and Condolences in 2004 to There Are Worse Things Than Being Alive in 2024. Our albums post has them all.
